World’s Oldest Pianist & Holocaust Survivor, Alice Herz-Sommer, Dies at 110

Alice Herz-Sommer is the oldest known holocaust survivor and pianist – passed away on February 23rd, 2014 in a hospital in London after being admitted two days previously.

Alice Herz-Sommer was featured in the 2013 Oscar-nominated documentary “The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life” which is directed by Malcolm Clark and produced by Nick Reed. The film tells the story of the performances that Alice Herz-Sommer, and others performed in concentration camps to lift the spirits of prisoners.
